The event was conceived and orchestrated by the incomparable Jenny Sebhat, the laughing queen! It was held at Barclay Mannor in downtown Vancouver on Thursday June 14th. Yours truly was the Master of Ceremonies for the event and much fun was had by all.

Registered sleepover guests pay $50 and partake of the amenities of the house including the Far Infra-red Sauna and an amazing menu featuring 4 full meals and 3 snacks (YUM). We will all be creating the events of the overnight together and I will post them here so anyone can drop in to participate in whatever pleases you. Drop-in cost by donation to the house. Activities will definitely include Laughter Yoga, gentle and friendly Hatha Yoga, Arts and Crafts and an “Essential Life Skills” concert to show off our oddities, specialities and other offerings. The overnight will end with a pilgrimage to Laughter Yoga at Open Door on the Drive on Sunday. Please join us for this awesome time dedicated to Fun, Growth and Connection. All activities are optional, of course.

This event is now full! We are already thinking about next year’s event so stay tuned for that.

About a month ago he decided to look up laughter yoga and got in contact with Allan O’Meara and John Wallstrom about shooting a segment for Telus TV.  This segment is now completed and can be watched here:

There was a lot of learning, connecting, and of course laughing. I would highly recommend it to anyone who uses or would like to learn how to use humour and laughter in their lives (professional and personal.) From their website:

The AATH is an international community of professionals who incorporate humor into their daily lives. AATH is the leader in providing evidence-based information about current research and practical applications of humor.

Some choice quotes I heard:

  • I am a recovering serious person
  • Grin and share it
  • Laugh till there’s tears running down your legs
  • Don’t worry about a thing, do the best you can
  • Laugh till it helps
  • Laugh just before you take a test, you will do better
  • Make the growth choice over the fear choice as often as possible
  • Seize every opportunity for sharing kindness and joy
  • Daily laughter (as little as 10 min) has significant and lasting benefits

Today is it a powerful, life changing, world-wide movement that has helped and connected millions of people all around the planet. Let’s celebrate together! Dr. Kataria has a special message on the occasion of Laughter Yoga’s 15 anniversary:

Dear Laughter Friends, as we are celebrate the 15th Anniversary of Laughter Clubs on 13th March, 2010, I feel humbled and overwhelmed at the way the Laughter Yoga movement has spread across the world changing lives of tens and thousands of people.

A number of people have said kind things about me. While I am grateful to them, I must mention that all along it has been a combined effort of laughter club members, especially the leaders and teachers, from all over the world. It will be not incorrect to say that each one has contributed in some way or the other to the growth of laughter clubs while my role has been that of a mere facilitator.  Please accept my heartiest congratulations and best wishes for you and your family and may everyone around you be happy, healthy and joyful.
